Edward Jackson
The Troupe de Mort
(Unknown)
The stout hearted hero of Agincourt whose bravery shall be re-counted in The Oxford Household for many many years to come.
Freelancing from good buddies Troupe de Mort, Young Edward chose to fight against the dastardly French alongside Sir John de Vere, the 11th Earl of Oxford and was doing a rather splendid job when the moment of truth arose. It is at such times that heroes are made apparent. A sneaky Frenchmen thrust a bill past Young Edward's leg and lodged the hook firmly into the fleshy under-knee of our hero. Caught like a fish on a hook he could only politely remind Monsieur that this wasn't cricket as the crazy Gallic tugged and pulled upon the bill. Fallen to the floor, our intrepid part-time Oxford lies in agony on the damp grass of Agincourt. The majority of on lookers feared the battle would he halted due to the savageness of the Cockerel's strike, but after two failed attempts he rose, resplendent in his Oxford colours like the Phoenix from its fiery womb and clasping his weapon betwixt his claws smote down the French with great vengeance... It wasn't until some time after the battle, and after England has appeared in the clouds, that we found out that much flesh had been torn from his leg. And yet, he fought on.
Ladies and Gentlemen - I give you your first, and most worthy, Honourary Oxford, Edward of Troupe de Morte.
